Visual Day View

How to read and use the Timeline page — two rows per day, dragging blocks, and what overtime indicators mean.

Visual Day View (/timeline)

The timeline gives you a visual picture of your day: what was planned versus what actually happened, hour by hour.

Two rows per day

Each day on the timeline has two horizontal rows:

  • Top row (planned) — allocation blocks from your agenda. These are the tasks the planner scheduled into today's capacity.
  • Bottom row (logged) — actual time entries you've recorded (via timer or manual log).

Reading both rows together tells you immediately whether your day went to plan.

The time axis

A vertical 24-hour axis runs down the left side of the day. Hours are marked at regular intervals. The current time shows as a horizontal now marker — a bright line that moves as the day progresses.

Break zone

Your work schedule includes a break (typically lunch). The break zone is shown as a shaded region on the time axis. Entries are not placed inside the break by the planner; if you log time during your break, the entry appears there but is distinguished visually.

Dragging blocks

You can drag any block to a new time position. Dragging a block:

  • Updates the entry's start time (pins it)
  • Reflowed entries around it shift to avoid overlap

To resize a block, drag its bottom edge up or down. This changes the entry's duration.

Dragging a planned (allocation) block changes its position for today's view. Dragging a logged block updates the actual time entry in the database.

Overtime indicators

If your logged hours exceed your work schedule capacity for the day, an overtime indicator appears — a colored marker at the bottom of the day column showing how many minutes over you are.

Clicking the indicator opens the overtime dialog, which summarises the overage and lets you take action (e.g., shorten an entry, move work to another day).

Week view

The timeline defaults to a week view with today expanded (full time axis visible). Other days are collapsed to a compact summary row. Click any day header to expand it.

On mobile, only today is shown in detail. Swipe or tap the navigation arrows to move between days.

Practical tips

  • Use the timeline to spot forgotten entries — if logged blocks don't fill your work hours, you may have missed logging something.
  • Drag entries to correct their start time rather than deleting and re-creating.
  • The planned row is read-only for past days — you can't move historical allocations.
