Missed Deadline
A hard deadline has passed and the task isn't done. What happens and what your options are.
A hard deadline has passed
Hard deadlines are real commitments. When one passes with work remaining, PayMe escalates automatically.
Before the deadline: warnings start early
- 3+ days before: the task appears in the morning briefing as "at risk".
- 1 day before: the PM is notified via Telegram if remaining hours can't physically fit.
- Day of: a final warning is sent.
After the deadline: recovery windows
The planner creates recovery windows — blocks spread across the next available days to finish the remaining work. The task is flagged as overdue and sorted to the top of the agenda.
The PM receives a notification: "Hard deadline passed on [task] — [Xh] remaining. Recovery scheduled for [dates]."
Your options
- Work the recovery windows — the planner has already scheduled them.
- Reassign it — ask the PM to move the task to someone with capacity.
- Mark it won't-do — if the work is no longer needed, cancel it.
- Negotiate a new deadline — update the due date, the overdue flag clears.
Soft deadlines generate lighter treatment — the task rises in priority and the briefing notes it as "delayed", but no recovery windows are created.
