PayMe Guide

Functions

Manage disciplines (Design, Dev, Strategy...) and the colours used to identify them in the UI.

Functions

Functions (also called disciplines) categorise work by type. They appear on allocations, tasks, and reports, making it easy to see how budget is distributed across Design, Dev, Strategy, etc.

Default functions

PayMe ships with common agency disciplines. You can rename, recolour, or add more.

Creating a function

Go to Settings → Functions → Add function:

  1. Enter a name (e.g. "Motion Design").
  2. Add a description — appears in allocation pickers as a hint.
  3. Choose a colour — shown on allocation bars, workload charts, and timeline blocks.
  4. Optionally add default members — members pre-assigned to this discipline.
  5. Save.

Editing a function

Update name, description, colour, or default members at any time. Changes take effect immediately across all project views and reports.

Deleting a function

You can only delete a function if no active allocations or tasks reference it. Archive or reassign those first.

Colours

Colours are stored as hex strings and used throughout the UI:

  • Allocation bars on the project page
  • Workload chart segments on the Team page
  • Timeline blocks on the Timeline page
  • Budget breakdown chips on report pages

Choose distinct, accessible colours to make the breakdown charts readable at a glance.

Default members

defaultMembers is a list of member IDs. When a PM creates a new allocation for this function, these members are pre-selected in the picker. This is purely a UX shortcut — any member can be assigned to any function.
