Templates

Save allocation structures and task lists as reusable templates tied to FiC products.

Templates

Templates capture the discipline breakdown and optional task structure for a recurring project type. Apply a template when creating a project and allocations are created automatically.

What a template contains

  • Allocations — list of { functionId, percentage, budgetHours, memberIds[] }
  • Tasks (optional) — list of { name, functionId, estimatedHours, description }

percentage controls how hours scale when the template is applied to a project with a different total budget.

Creating a template

Go to Settings → Templates → New template:

  1. Name the template (e.g. "Brand Identity Sprint").
  2. Add allocations by discipline with hour percentages or fixed hours.
  3. Optionally add a default task list.
  4. Optionally link to a FiC product — when a quote with that product is imported, this template is applied automatically.

Applying a template

When creating a project, select a template in the creation wizard. PayMe:

  1. Creates periods if the template specifies them.
  2. Creates allocations scaled to the project's total budget hours.
  3. If the template has tasks, creates them under each allocation.

You can override any allocation after creation — isOverride tracks what was customised.

ClickHouse product-template links map a FiC product ID to a template. When Projects → New from quote imports a quote item that matches a linked product, the template is pre-selected.

Go to Settings → Products to manage these links. Removing a link is an explicit selection; an omitted template ID is rejected. Link failures stay visible and restore the previous selection. Creating a template and linking it are separate writes; if linking fails after creation, Retry retains the created template instead of creating another.

Template creation records the authenticated creator. Updates accept only editable fields; IDs, creator, timestamps and usage counters are server-owned. Task predecessor indexes are validated, including cycles.

The product editor’s Copy from product fills the form from the selected template without writing a duplicate. A new template is created only when you save. Load and save failures remain visible.

Duplicating a template

From Settings → Templates, click the overflow menu on any template and choose Duplicate. This creates a copy with all allocations and tasks, which you can then rename and adjust.

Saving a project as a template

From any active project, use Actions → Save as template. This captures the current allocation structure (and optionally the task list) as a new template for future reuse.
