Allocations

Assign hours to team members by discipline, mark complete, and let members self-report done.

Allocations

An allocation is the atomic unit of a project assignment: one member, one discipline, a budget in hours, optionally scoped to a period.

Creating an allocation

From the project detail page, click Add allocation:

  1. Select the member.
  2. Select the function (discipline) — Design, Dev, Strategy, etc.
  3. Set budget hours.
  4. Optionally tie it to a period and set an allocation deadline.

The allocation immediately appears in that member's task list as available scope. They can start creating tasks against it.

Allocation as permission

Having an allocation is the only requirement for a member to create tasks on a project. There are no separate permission flags.

Completing an allocation

When work is done, mark the allocation as completed:

  • PM path: project page → allocation card → "Mark complete"
  • Member path: task list → allocation row → "I'm done"

Both set status: completed and record completedBy. Completed allocations are read-only — no new tasks can be added.

If the member taps "I'm done" via Telegram, the bot confirms and calls complete_allocation internally.

Template overrides

If a project was created from a template, allocations start as template defaults. Editing any allocation marks it as intentionally customised so the template's proportions are preserved for untouched allocations.
