Getting Started

Onboarding

Your first day in PayMe — logging in, connecting Telegram, finding tasks, and starting a timer.

Onboarding

This page walks you through everything you need to do on your first day. It takes about 10 minutes.

1. Log in

Go to the PayMe web app and sign in with your credentials. If you don't have them yet, ask your admin — they create member accounts from the Team settings page.

If your admin sent you a magic link via Telegram, tap it to log in without a password. Magic links expire after 5 minutes, so use it right away.

2. Connect Telegram

Telegram is how PayMe communicates with you — morning briefings, deadline warnings, and natural language commands all happen there.

  1. Ask your admin to send you an invite link (admins find it in Settings → Integrations → Telegram).
  2. Open the link on your phone. It opens Telegram and starts a conversation with the PayMe bot.
  3. Send /start. The bot will confirm your account is linked.

Once connected, you can talk to the bot in plain language: "what's my plan today?", "start timer on task X", "log 2 hours on the homepage task".

3. Find your tasks

Log in to the web app and go to /tasks. This is your home base. You'll see:

  • Agenda (left column) — tasks the planner has scheduled for you, day by day.
  • Logged (right column) — time entries you've already recorded today.

If the Agenda is empty, your PM hasn't created allocations for you yet — see the note at the bottom of this page.

4. Start your first timer

Find a task in your Agenda. Click the play button next to it. The timer starts immediately and appears in the top bar.

Only one timer can run at a time. Starting a new one automatically stops the previous one.

To stop the timer, click the stop button. PayMe creates a time entry from when you started to now and moves it to the Logged column.

You can also use Telegram: send "start timer" and the bot will ask which task.

5. Understand the morning briefing

On weekdays at 9am (Europe/Rome), the Telegram bot sends you a briefing. It contains:

  • What the planner has scheduled for you today
  • Any tasks with approaching deadlines
  • Warnings if you're behind on something

You don't need to do anything with it — it's information. If something looks wrong (wrong task, wrong hours), check with your PM.

6. Your work schedule

PayMe's planner assumes you work 9:00–18:00 with a break from 13:30–14:30. This is the default. Your PM or admin can adjust it for your account.

The planner respects this schedule when packing tasks into your day. It won't schedule work during your break or outside your hours.

What if I don't have tasks?

Tasks live inside allocations. An allocation is your PM's decision to assign a chunk of a project's budget to you. Without an allocation, you can't create tasks on that project.

If your task list is empty, the most likely reasons are:

  • Your PM hasn't created an allocation for you yet — ask them.
  • You have allocations but no tasks — create tasks inside them from the /tasks page.
  • Your allocations are on a future period — check the date range.

See Key Concepts for a full explanation of how allocations and tasks relate.
